The optimist in me absolutely loves New Year's Day (minus the hangover, but in keeping with the positivity, it's a sign of a good night!).
I love that it becomes universally acceptable to be optimistic - to give the finger to all the things in the prior year that didn't turn out as planned so that you can start over. I don't know many people (actually, I know absolutely none) who go into a new year thinking, "Well, this one is going to suck as much as the last."
On my Facebook feed alone, I read status after status about wishes for the new year - people posting resolutions and just being hopeful about what 2013 is going to bring to all of us. It doesn't matter if the resolutions get broken, which they invariably will - for a week, a few days, however long it lasts - people are trying to better themselves, to be better versions of who they already are.
To start the year off right, I'm keeping in the spirit of positivity with the following things to keep in mind when things aren't as blissfully optimistic or hopeful as they are while a new year enfolds before us.
Can't wait to see all of your celebration pictures and hear how your New Year's Eve went (and what you wore!). Happy 2013, loves! xox
