And I Said, "What About, Breakfast at Tiffany's"..

First, I apologize for not responding to all of your fabulous comments sooner - J is leaving again for a 2 1/2 week vacation (one week road tripping with his older brother, and a week and a half in Canada with his family), so we've been squeezing in every possible second together. I promise that this weekend will be my catch up time - I've missed you all!

I absolutely love, love, love Martha Stewart. I am constantly watching her TV show (much to the anger of my roommate who refers to my dear Martha as a 'heinous cranky bitch'), buying her books for ideas, or looking at her website/magazine/ trying to find inspiration and trying out new craft ideas and recipes.

Maybe it's because one of my roommates is planning her wedding, and as a bridesmaid, I've been feeling directly involved in the process...or maybe I'm just being that silly little girl who yanked out pages from wedding magazines and compiled a ridiculously thick and unbelievably organized wedding binder from the time she was 12 years old (which I plan on definitely not telling J about...don't want to freak the boy out too much! ;) ).

Whatever the reason is, I found myself browsing the Martha Stewart wedding section - where I came across a wedding that the Today Show featured for Cody and Jessica Helgeson. The theme? A fabulous New York inspired theme of.....Breakfast at Tiffany's.

This couple seriously had their reception at the famed NYC Tiffany & Co, where Audrey Hepburn stared into the window in her gorgeous black dress, and lusted over Tiffany jewels. The colors? Tiffany blue and white, naturally. The food served? Bite sized breakfast foods - pancakes (my favorite), eggs and bacon, and mini bagels and lox (which I know is now called smoked salmon, but I grew up on 'bagels with lox')...and as somewhat of a foodie, I'm dyingggg over the yummy looking food. Entertainment? A band playing their favorite songs, as well as props in the inspiration of Breakfast at Tiffany's for guests to don for photos (plus a bar carved out of ice, which is pretty entertaining in itself, right?).

Helloooo, gorgeous Reem Acra gown and Michael Kors suit (and gorgeous couple):

Is this not the most adorable pillow for the rings EVER?!

Mm, no big deal, just a bar carved out of ice, with two jewel ice sculptures (I can't lie, this is a bit much for my taste, but that's okay, to each their own!)
ice bar + sculptures

The pretty Tiffany blue and white color scheme:

seating cards

I love the Audrey Hepburn stamps on the envelopes!

The bride recreates that famous scene of Ms. Hepburn's Holly Golightly:

Props were left on the guestbook table so that everyone could really get into the spirit with sleep masks, feather boas, sunglasses, and pearls to don for photos!
props left for guest book photos

And, my favorite part of any wedding (I can't decide which is better - the fashion or the food!), the food:
classy bagel and loxbacon cup + scrambled eggs

Mmm, baby Bloody Mary's with shrimp. Yummo!

Love these place settings:

And hello, are these favors not the most fabulous things ever?! Anyone who gives a bottle of wine as a favor is good in my book:

So precious:

I thought that this wedding was so cute and well thought out (which it should be since it was Martha Stewart planned)...a little big and extravagant, but to each their own! Every detail was thought out and somehow related back to Breakfast at Tiffany's, which I thought was super cute. While it's not my dream wedding, I sure can appreciate the beauty and all the effort and thought that went into it!

(P.S. Please, please don't worry - I am notttt thinking of or considering marrying J at this earlyyy time in our relationship! I just think weddings are so special and beautiful, and hey, I'm a girl - I DO think about all this from time to time! :) We'll see what the future holds I guess....Tonight in the car, my brother said to me "If you don't marry J, I don't think you'll ever marry anyone else."...A littleeee scary to hear haha).

Thoughts? For those of you who are married, did you have a theme or anything - or any cute creative decorations, etc? And for those of you who aren't married, do you have ideas for your future wedding? (I hope you do, so I feel less lame ;)

Hope you're all enjoying your day, and that you enjoy your upcoming weekends! xo...get ready for the next Hottie of the Week on Sunday! (I'm glad no one verbally bashed me for sexism or demeaning anyone by the use of the word 'hottie' ;) I was ready for a good stoning).

Currently watching: He's Just Not That Into You. (I hadn't ever seen it before!).

Hey Alison - you've plenty of time to get married. I got married to J last year after 25 years of living together on and off. We had a 6 year gap in the middle so she could go off and have a couple of kids.

Hey Allison. Great post. I don't blame you for spending as much time with J before he went off on vacation.

This was a really cool post. I'll admit that I don't think very much about weddings. The last time I really thought about weddings was while watching Bride Wars.

I did enjoy this post. I think this whole wedding looks so special and beautiful. The pictures were great.

Take care. Have a great weekend. Cheers!

Those photos are brilliant! I love the theme of the wedding, but like you, doubt I would ever want something so big and extravagant. But it seems to have worked for this couple! I love the attention to detail, the mini food, the favors and all of the lovely props! Plus, I am in love with the bride's dress... ahh, so perfect. :)

I've had my eye on this wedding before. It is so perfect. Since Andy and I have been dating for almost 5 years it's something I think about alot. I stalk Style Me Pretty on a regular basis. It will become even worse once I'm actually engaged!

Om my lordy...i'm drooling over that fabulous wedding. Me & the hubs eloped. I wrote the story a while back and it couldn't have been more exciting. No one knew and when we returned we had a reception with the dress/tux...EVERYTHING for the entire families. I wouldn't have done it differently. Everyone has their own way and this for us was the easiest since he is military. A dream wedding is always a stirring...i want to see your book girly!!! Email me the details.

ohmygosh, that would have been a blast to attend!

my wedding had a ballet theme to it, though it was at the beach...the flower girls wore ballet slippers and tututs, my dress was made by a seamstress that had made some of my costumes, each table was named after a ballet and the food was all of my fav's! caesar salad, lobster bisque, filet mignon/orange was exactly what I wanted, I was very lucky:)

Oh my, this is ridiculously cute, it reminds me of one of Blair Waldorf's many wedding dreams from the books. I must admit I took a Tiffany shot when in New York, gazing into the display case.

These are amazing photos!! How perfect. said...

omg. as much as I'm not a "girly-girl", I LOVE Breakfast at Tiffany's.
And that wedding seems like an awesome [if slightly over the top] idea.
And, I can't help but think about how Breakfast at Tiffany's is about escorts finding love with each other... that just throws me off a little bit, with the whole wedding thing. lol.
:) nice post as usual.

First off, I adore the song by Deep Blue Something for your post title!
Martha's work is alwaysss lovely, and sometimes luxuriously over the top but how can one not appreciate this?! The bride and groom look amazing. The food and decor are scrumptious and I really love how they incorporate the guests. Haha, sometimes I find myself drifting over to the wedding rack of the magazine aisle ... looking at dresses makes me so happy :D. I can imagine several different themes or styles, though first I would like a man :P.

Can't wait for the hottie post, and I hope you had an excellent weekend!!

Being someone who never, and I mean never imagine myself getting married, or even thinking about marriage in general, I must admit that the items you selected are lickable.

The ring pillow in particular; I just never even knew that such an item Regardless of that sorry fact, I must admit that you have the most exquisite taste I've seen in anything marriage related. So many times I've seen acquaintances preparing for their wedding parties and such, only to be completely and utterly repulsed by the cheese of it all. You my dear encompass a surgical class which almost has me contemplating a possible ceremony in my tragic

Another gem my luscious and angelic Allison. Will you marry me? (if your man doesn't mind of

Peace and Latin love

OMG! How FABULOUS!!!! What an amazing day...

I have no idea what my wedding will be like. I have no idea who the dude will be haha. I'm prob going to elope, I just feel it. But seeing things like THIS makes me wanna change my tune...

Did you like He's Just Not That Into You???

"YOU are my exception" um, I die

Tiffany blue and black was my color scheme. That ring pillow is so fabulous! My favorite part of my wedding was the music. Somewhere over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World for the bridesmaids. The love theme from St. Elmo's Fire for me and God Only Knows by the Beach Boys for the hubs and I. As you can see I was influenced by some of my fav movies. Ah ha. 50 First Dates, St. Elmo's Fire and Love Actually. Sigh. I want another wedding!

Wonderful blog you have!

I like to read about weddings because at the beginning those are so beautiful and them they cry because everything is bad. In my case my husband needs to buy Generic Viagra to see our happiness.

Pleased to know about this information and hope it will help me in arranging my cousin’s ring ceremony which is being arranged at one of exemplary wedding venues. Planning to arrange a lovely party and hope everyone will enjoy this party.
